About the Presenter:
The Simple Steps Story
As a passionate classroom teacher, Sara Drake would see kids struggling in her 4th-grade classroom and know that they needed something more than what the typical classroom could offer. As a result, she decided to create a safe place that families could turn to for academic support. It started off with her just supporting kids and families outside of the school to get the intervention needed to create a stronger student. After a short period of time, she could see that there were more families that needed the support than she by herself could help. Through blessings, she was able to connect with amazing educators that wanted to join her on the same mission.
One by one, she started to build a team of teachers that wanted to help build students’ confidence through academic support also. These teachers were passionate about the art of teaching and experts in their areas. As they came together, they were able to problem solve as a team and cover students that ranged from K-12.
